Character Name: Rio Vidal/Death
Age: As old as the universe, so about 13.8 billion+

Canon Abilities: She is a cosmic entity around since the beginning of time, immortal, and the embodiment of death. Rio has super human strength, durability, and agility. She is able to cast spells and do witchcraft as well. Because she is the embodiment of Death, she also has near omnipotence when it comes to that aspect of existence. She can change her form at will (she typically will look like a human woman or like a more skeleton-like representation, but can present differently if she chooses). She can create portals, heal others, and even bring people back from the dead. In game, she would obviously be substantially diminished and not be significantly stronger than a standard witch and unable to do anything that would break the game, but could tell things about people (i.e. if they died, are dying, etc- according to my opt in/opt out post)

1. Has your character always believed in magic? Do they have something influencing their perspective on the supernatural/metaphysical/spiritual from their past? How do they feel about magic?
Rio believes in magic, as she can wield it and is the progenitor of Green craft magic/Earth magic. Green craft is focused on control over the forces of nature and the cycle of life, of which death is a pivotal aspect. As she is the manifestation of death itself, her perspective is entirely consumed by the metaphysical and the order of things. What she does have an issue with magic wise are those like Billy Maximoff or Agatha Harkness, who subvert the natural order by using magic to avoid it. Billy used it, albeit subconsciously, to survive following the collapse of Wanda’s hex and placing himself in the body of dying William Kaplan, now a mix of both Billy and William, preventing two deaths at once. Agatha also hid from her for centuries using the Darkhold. She takes her role seriously, and anyone trying to escape her is unlikely to be tolerated, even someone she loves like Agatha.


2. What mythological creature would your character most like to be? Which do they identify with? Which would they dread being? Feel free to use our Bestiary for reference.
The creature that Rio might most like to be or identify with would be the unseelie banshee. The banshee wails outside the windows of those about to die, and therefore, Rio would be quite familiar with them and views them as creatures within her orbit as death itself. She’d also appreciate their general vibe, with the ghost-like look and sunken-in eyes. Rio would find them quite beautiful, actually, and remind her of her true form. They also aren’t inherently violent creatures, simply fulfilling their roles as her heralds. Rio is not evil, despite many thinking of her as a villain. No one wants to die, so that leads to a lot of natural animosity toward her. She is only fulfilling her necessary role, although she does often do it with a bit too much enthusiasm sometimes. Many would likely view banshees similarly to her: as dark, villainous beings. But they are simply doing as they must. She’d view them as helping those about to die and readying their loved ones for that inevitability.



3. If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.
If Rio were to follow one person into another realm, it would be Agatha Harkness. Despite their tumultuous past, Rio still loves her. She loved her so much that they created a child together. Death should not create life, and yet they did together. It’s part of the reason that Nicky was never meant to survive long after his birth. She only gave him more time for Agatha’s sake, and gave her more than she's ever given anyone. She would follow Agatha if she asked, even if she does not trust her, and even if the motives Agatha might have to get her to follow are self-serving. Rio wants Agatha by her side. They might still end up at each other’s throats from all the pain and resentment that still resides between them, but Rio wouldn’t be able to resist that draw. The entire reason Rio wants Agatha dead is so that they can be together in the realm of Death.


4. Your character gets to return home, but when they do, they learn that they've been gone for hundreds of years. How do they react? If Rio returns home and finds out she’s been gone for a hundred years, she would be in a state of rage and panic. Without Death in her universe, that would mean no one could die. So that would mean a hundred years of not a single person or creature dying, despite how old, sick, or injured they are. That would spin the universe into pure chaos. She would immediately start to try and fix this issue, but the universe would likely be in a horrible state. If nothing died, there would quickly be a lack of proper resources to sustain that never-ending life, so she might come home to a universe full of walking skeletons who don’t have enough food to sustain themselves but an inability to die. It would be like a zombie movie without any way for anyone to end their suffering. Rio would be devastated and would do what she needed to right the situation so that future generations might have a future worth having, but it would be a long recovery if it's even possible.
